Ascension Parish is located on the Mississippi River between the cities of Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana and is connected to these cities by Interstate Highway 10. The term "Parish" refers to political subdivisions of the State of Louisiana that are comparable to counties in the remainder of the United States. Part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area, Ascension Parish has been one of the fastest growing Parishes in the State of Louisiana and one of the fastest growing Parishes/Counties in the US over the last several years.
