On April 03, 2006, the Ascension Economic Development Foundation (AEDF) was created for charitable purposes under I.R.S. Code 501(c)(3) and pursuant to the above referenced Louisiana Nonprofit Corporation Law. The primary purpose of AEDC is to alleviate conditions of economic distress affecting Ascension Parish to the extent such purpose is a charitable purpose within the meaning of I.R.S. Code 501(c)(3). AEDF receives charitable donations from businesses and individuals ("members") that are utilized for various projects in close coordination with the Ascension Economic Development Corporation. AEDF is governed by a Board of Directors numbering not less than 3 and not more than 10 as determined at the discretion of the Board. These members serve without compensation for 1 year terms and are elected by the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting of AEDF. There are currently 5 levels of membership in AEDF in terms of annual levels of contribution:
- Chairman’s Circle > $20,000
- President’s Council $10,000 - $19,999
- Executive Committee $ 5,000 - $ 9,999
- Economic Development Partner $ 2,500 - $ 4,999
- Community Partner $ 1,000 - $ 2,500
