COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM

The State of Louisiana oversees the implementation of the US Department of Housing and Community Development's Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG). A portion of Louisiana's annual allocation of CDBG funds is set aside for economic and community development projects. Generally, CDBG funds are utilized to improve hard infrastructure related to qualifying economic development projects (water, wastewater, site improvements, etc.). In order to qualify, the project must provide evidence that a positive economic impact will accrue to low to moderate income individuals in Louisiana. At a minimum, at least 51% of the direct jobs created or retained by the project must be filled by people in the low to moderate income brackets.
