AEDC officials since the summer of 2007 have pursued the development of a business park
for Ascension Parish and for the Baton Rouge region. AEDC contracted with
Taimerica, a national economic development consulting firm, to conduct a market feasibility study of a
business park for the Parish and utilized GIS mapping technology from C-K Associates and
LEO, LLC, geospatial mapping companies, to locate best parcels in Ascension Parish for
business park development.
AEDC officials, after months of pursuing four recommended sites for the project, signed an
option to purchase agreement for 107 acres known as the Woodlands of Ascension Business
Park located near the intersection of Highways 73 and 30 in Geismar. AEDC is currently
seeking interested developers to partner with the organization in the creation of a business
park for the Parish.
